Announcments are something that you dont really have to do, however they are nice to help people plan for your big day. So, if you are on the fence about whether or not to do them take these simple things into consideration. One really great way to send out inexpensive announcements that you can do completely by on your own (well with your fiance) is to go and take some photo booth picture. They are quite cheap (anywhere from $3-$5 dollars) and are so cute and fun really bubbly and show you and your fiance in a sweet, simple and casual setting. Then when you have the pictures choose your favorite one or use all of them and take them to Kinko's or any other photo copy place and have them printed with your info, such as your name and the wedding date across the bottom or down the side. You can change the color, turn them into black and white or sepia, you can blow them up, what ever you prefer. Then you can just send them out like that, and presto... announcements. People love to see the Bride and Groom and the picture is perfect to hang on the icebox or message board. Hence reminding them of the date and serving its purpose well, while they get more familiar with the two of you. They are super cost effiecient and effective. This is what we did for our wedding announcments, they were so cute and so many people at the wedding made comments to us about them. About how nice it was to have a picture especially the distant friends and family that don't get to see us all the time. Also, even now I see those little pictures of us tucked here and there at different friends and family members houses. I give this DIY an A+
